After flirting for a time with a month long walk on the Via Francigena I decided what I really wanted was another Camino de Santiago. The primary benefits are: more pilgrims to have for company and more albergues and other services along the way. So, Camino del Norte it is, and I’ll arrive in Bilbao to begin there on May 28. Wish me a buen camino!
I am trekking part of the Camino from Astorga to Santiago in April. It’s my first time and I’ve been walking around my town with my backpack for practice. The American Pilgrims of the Camino are having their annual gathering in my town in a few weeks so I hope to meet many past pilgrims and learn more about the pilgrimage. And I look forward to reading about your travels, too. I subscribe to you on Facebook. Buen Camino!
Hi Claire ~
Congratulations on your upcoming camino. Wow, April isn’t too far away. You must be getting excited. I’m jealous the American Pilgrims meeting is right in your town! It looks like they’re having a great program and I hope to make it to one of their gatherings sometime soon. Our local chapter will have to be enough for now. I will look forward to reading about your camino, Claire. Buen camino to you, too!
We (spouse and I) walked “out” from Bilbao to Hondarribia and crossed back into France, October of 2004. The northern route is quite different from the French route (our route from SJPP and points west).
Buen viaje!
